Eurite (EURI) is a euro-pegged stablecoin issued by Banking Circle SA, a Luxembourg-licensed bank that operates under the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). EURI launched in August 2024 and was the first MiCA-compliant euro stablecoin to be listed on Binance, where it is paired against EUR and a range of crypto assets to provide European users with a regulated euro-denominated trading instrument under the new EU stablecoin regime that took effect on 30 June 2024. Each EURI is backed one-to-one by euro deposits held at Banking Circle SA and at other authorised European banks, segregated from the issuer's own balance sheet under MiCA's e-money token rules.

MiCA, which came into force in stages during 2024 and 2025, divides stablecoins into two regulatory categories: 'e-money tokens' (EMTs) backed by a single fiat currency and 'asset-referenced tokens' (ARTs) backed by a basket. EURI is structured as a euro-denominated EMT, which means it must be redeemable at par on demand by any holder, must hold reserves in segregated, low-risk assets, and is subject to ongoing supervision by Luxembourg's CSSF (Commission de Surveillance du Secteur Financier). These requirements are stricter than those that apply to most US-issued stablecoins and are designed to protect European retail users.

EURI is multichain — issued natively on Ethereum (ERC-20) and BNB Chain (BEP-20) — with most volume currently concentrated on BNB Chain because of the lower transaction fees that suit European retail trading. As a regulated euro instrument it is positioned to capture flow that previously moved through unregulated euro stablecoins (which European exchanges have had to delist or restrict under MiCA) and through stablecoin proxies such as USDT-EUR pairs. Banking Circle is a long-established correspondent bank in the European payments market, and its banking infrastructure is what enables EURI's mint and redeem rails to operate during EU banking hours with same-day settlement.

Under MiCA, EURI's issuer must publish detailed white papers, monthly reserve breakdowns, and ongoing risk disclosures. It must also limit certain payment use cases if EURI exceeds specified daily transaction volumes, a provision designed to prevent any single private stablecoin from displacing the euro in retail payments. As of early 2025 EURI volume remains well below those thresholds, and the token is freely usable for trading and treasury purposes across MiCA-authorised exchanges in the EU.
