What is Night?
Night (NIGHT) is the public utility and governance token of Midnight, a blockchain for applications that combine public verification with private data. NIGHT balances are not shielded. Midnight uses zero-knowledge proofs and the Compact language to let developers decide which information an application discloses.
NIGHT and DUST have different roles. Registered NIGHT holdings generate DUST, a shielded, non-transferable resource consumed by network transactions. DUST is not a stablecoin or a staking payout. Registration associates NIGHT with a DUST address; it does not lock or transfer the NIGHT. Applications can sponsor users by directing generation to their addresses.
NIGHT has a supply of 24 billion tokens. Distribution includes the Glacier Drop and its redemption schedule. Available supply, network support and exchange access should be checked against current official information; holding NIGHT does not guarantee investment returns.
