What is Bard?
BARD is Lombard's protocol token for governance and utility on Ethereum. It is distinct from LBTC, the protocol's Bitcoin-backed asset used in DeFi; BARD itself is not backed by BTC. LBTC launched in 2024, and its yield model has since moved from Bitcoin staking to a covered-call strategy managed by Bitwise. Returns vary and involve strategy, custody and smart-contract risks.
Lombard reported more than US$1.5 billion in total value locked on September 9, 2025. That is a dated historical milestone, not a current TVL or a valuation of BARD. The former BARD staking program closed on September 17, 2026, and rewards ended after October 1, 2026. Existing stBARD remains redeemable through Mellow with a 21-day withdrawal period. The program previously supplemented cross-chain security; it should not be described as an active staking opportunity.

What is Lombard and what does BARD do?
Lombard develops Bitcoin assets and infrastructure for DeFi. BARD is its governance and utility token; LBTC represents Bitcoin backing and earns variable yield. Holding BARD does not give a BTC redemption claim or automatically pay LBTC's yield.
Can I stake BARD?
No new BARD staking is available: the program closed on September 17, 2026. Rewards stopped after October 1, 2026. Existing stBARD can still be redeemed for its underlying BARD through Mellow, with the existing 21-day withdrawal period. These dates concern BARD staking, not every Lombard rewards program.
What is the total supply of BARD?
BARD has a fixed total supply of 1,000,000,000 tokens. At the token generation event (TGE), 225 million BARD, or 22.5% of the total, entered circulation. Lombard's published schedule provides for the remaining supply to unlock gradually over 48 months after TGE. The ecosystem allocation accounts for 35% of the total supply.
How do I store BARD safely?
For BARD on Ethereum, use a wallet that supports Ethereum and ERC-20 tokens. Before transferring, check the receiving network and verify the token contract against Lombard's official documentation. BARD may need to be added manually to the wallet's token list; automatic display is not guaranteed. Keep your wallet recovery phrase offline and never share it.
What is LBTC and how does it relate to BARD?
LBTC is Lombard's Bitcoin-backed yield-bearing token. Its BTC exchange rate reflects accrued value, so depositing one BTC does not necessarily mint one LBTC. Current documentation describes a Bitwise-managed covered-call strategy. BARD is a separate protocol token; the former BARD staking security layer has been retired.
