    About Stargate and STG

Stargate connects assets across supported blockchain networks using LayerZero messaging. The bridge product and the STG token have different roles; a working transfer route does not establish continuing token-holder benefits.

Following LayerZero’s acquisition of Stargate in 2025, STG became eligible for conversion to ZRO under the redemption terms. LayerZero’s September 15, 2026 notice sets December 15, 2026 as the end of support for that conversion.

    How Stargate transfers work

    • Route design: pool transfers use available liquidity; Hydra can instead issue a bridged representation backed by assets locked in a pool.
    • Asset identity: USDC.e on a Hydra route is different from issuer-native USDC. Check both the destination token and its redemption path.
    • Transfer mode: the September 2026 notice announces Taxi-only operation from October 1. Older Bus batching descriptions do not describe the announced current model.
    • Settlement risk: source-chain finality, messaging, destination execution and available liquidity can affect completion. A bridge is not a guarantee of immediate delivery.

    Uses and practical limits

    • Moving assets: supported routes can connect balances on different networks, subject to the current asset and chain availability.
    • Application access: a transfer can supply assets for a destination application; that application has its own contracts and risks.
    • Comparing costs: inspect the quoted output and all route fees. Stargate app fees and executor fees are separate, and historical fee examples may be obsolete.
    • Treasury accounting: record the transferred assets, transaction identifiers and fees. Using a bridge does not establish that a transfer is tax-free.

    STG supply and transition

    Initial supply
The historical allocation document records one billion STG minted at genesis. This is an initial issuance figure, not a measurement of today’s circulation.
    Circulating supply
The conversion program changes the context for STG supply. An old vesting schedule alone cannot establish current circulating supply or the amount already redeemed.
    Token role
In the original governance design, locking STG generated veSTG voting power. Legacy staking-page text is not proof of current voting rights, rewards or eligibility.
    Issuance and redemption
The redemption terms describe redeemed STG as irreversibly destroyed. This does not measure executed burns or imply an ongoing emissions or yield program.

    Questions about Stargate

What drives the value of Stargate Finance, and what are its risks?

STG's value is closely tied to cross-chain transfer volume, LayerZero ecosystem growth, and overall DeFi activity, so its performance depends heavily on adoption of omnichain applications. It is a higher-risk, higher-beta asset than blue-chip cryptocurrencies, and competition from Wormhole, Axelar, Across, and Chainlink CCIP is intense. Always do your own research and only allocate capital you can afford to lose.

What are the announced STG-to-ZRO terms?

The published terms specify 0.08634 ZRO for each STG. The September 15, 2026 notice gives a December 15, 2026 deadline. The token ratio does not guarantee equal market value, access or eligibility.

Are Stargate transfers instant and guaranteed?

No. Taxi sends individual transfers rather than batching them, but still depends on source-chain finality and cross-chain processing. Delays, liquidity constraints and contract failures remain possible.

Is Stargate Finance safe to use?

Stargate has undergone multiple audits from firms like Quantstamp, Zellic, and Zokyo and maintains a public bug bounty on Immunefi, with no major exploits to date. However, all cross-chain bridges carry elevated smart-contract and messaging-layer risk, and bridges have historically been among the most targeted DeFi primitives. Users should only bridge amounts they can afford to lose and avoid leaving large balances in pools unnecessarily.

    Which chains does Stargate support?

Stargate supports a wide range of EVM-compatible networks including Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Base, BNB Chain, Avalanche, Polygon, Fantom, Linea, Metis, Kava, and Mantle, with additional chains added over time. The list of supported assets varies by chain but typically includes USDC, USDT, ETH, and select native tokens. Check stargate.finance for the most current list of supported chains and assets.
