What is Centrifuge?
Centrifuge provides infrastructure for tokenized financial products. Managers operate pools, investors hold product-specific share tokens, and curators can manage allocation strategies. A pool's assets, fees, eligibility and redemption terms depend on its issuer. Buying CFG is distinct from subscribing to one of these products: CFG is the ecosystem token, not a share in every Centrifuge pool.
The current protocol uses EVM smart contracts and a hub-and-spoke architecture. A pool manages operations on a hub and can distribute its share tokens through supported networks. Vaults provide entry and exit paths, including request-based settlement. This does not mean every product is offered on every network or that withdrawals are immediate. The former Substrate/Polkadot Centrifuge Chain is deprecated; it is not the current settlement system described here.
CFG is now an Ethereum ERC-20 token. The official legacy CFG/WCFG migration ended permanently after the individual review period closed on 10 April 2026. Old-chain staking and collator instructions must not be used as a guide to the current token. Check the official token contract and the receiving service's exact network support before any transfer.
Governance also changed. Official documentation records CP171's approval on 3 November 2025, transferring governance oversight to the Centrifuge Network Foundation (CNF), with the DAO retaining the ability to reassume operations. The documented annual issuance is 3% of total supply and accrues to the treasury. It is not a reward rate promised to CFG holders. Market prices, pool valuations and issuer-reported yields measure different things; none establishes a guaranteed return.

Key Features of Centrifuge
- Tokenized product infrastructure: Managers configure pools and share classes for financial products. The issuer remains responsible for the product and its disclosures.
- EVM architecture: Hub and spoke contracts support management and distribution across supported networks. Network availability is specific to each deployment and product.
- Vault-based access: Vaults support different assets and settlement flows, including asynchronous requests. A submitted request is not necessarily an immediately completed redemption.
- Configurable permissions: Products can restrict subscriptions, redemptions or transfers. Investor approval on one network does not automatically apply on another.
- Product-specific reporting: Review who supplies a valuation, when it was updated and what it covers. Onchain records do not guarantee complete or continuously updated information about offchain assets.
Centrifuge Use Cases
- Fund issuance: Managers can represent product shares onchain and administer their issuance under the offering’s terms.
- Investor access: Eligible investors can enter an offering through a supported vault; subscription and redemption conditions remain product-specific.
- Distribution across networks: Issuers can make a product accessible on supported chains without implying that the CFG token itself exists on every such chain.
- Portfolio operations: Authorized curators can allocate a product’s capital through permitted workflows and limits. This is separate from holding CFG.
- DeFi integrations: Compatible share tokens may integrate with other protocols, subject to their permissions, liquidity and collateral rules. Integration does not remove investment or contract risk.
Centrifuge Tokenomics
- Total Supply
- Total supply can grow through issuance. The official figure of 697,164,473 CFG is dated June 2026, not a live circulating-supply reading.
- Circulating
- Total, released and circulating supply are different measures. CP149 included 115 million new CFG: 15 million unlocked in May 2025 and 100 million vest linearly through April 2029.
- Utility
- CFG is the Ethereum ERC-20 ecosystem token. Current governance oversight rests with CNF under CP171; the DAO retains a route to reassume operations. Legacy chain gas and validator roles are historical.
- Emission
- The documented annual issuance is 3% of total supply and goes to the treasury. It is not a holder APY. Published vesting and issuance plans may change; use current official disclosures.

What is Centrifuge?
Centrifuge is infrastructure for issuing and operating tokenized financial products. CFG is its ecosystem token. A fund or pool share has its own terms and assets; holding CFG alone does not subscribe you to that product.
How does the current protocol work?
EVM contracts connect a management hub with distribution networks. Share classes and vaults can have different access and settlement rules. The historical Tinlake DROP/TIN model is not a universal description of every current product.
Can I stake CFG using old Centrifuge Chain instructions?
Those instructions describe the deprecated chain and do not establish a current staking service for Ethereum CFG. The documented 3% annual issuance goes to the treasury, not automatically to holders, collators or nominators. Assess any separate third-party offer under its own terms.
What is the minimum amount needed to buy CFG?
There is no universal minimum. A venue may apply minimum order value, quantity increments and withdrawal limits for the exact market. Check current account-specific rules and fees; a low token price does not remove those limits.
How should I assess CFG market performance?
Compare the chart over a defined period in the same quote currency. Market capitalization uses price and circulating supply, while trading volume measures turnover. Pool assets and fund returns are separate from CFG returns; historical price changes do not predict future performance.
Can legacy CFG or WCFG still be migrated?
The official migration is permanently closed. The individual review period ended on 10 April 2026. Do not treat the old token or an old migration interface as current CFG, and do not infer a supported recovery path from historical instructions.
